USERS’ PROFILE

There is no special profile of the users. According to the German Youth Welfare Act, all young people up to the age of 27 have the right to individual development through open youth work. Our visitors are correspondingly diverse. However, we have a relatively high proportion of young people who have financial concerns or difficulties in family life. Some young people refuse to attend school. These young people also have great difficulties in starting their careers.

MISSION OF THE YOUTH CENTRE

Our goal is to support young people in their personal development. In doing so, we want to enable the young people as much self-determination as a group. For us, this means that we always adapt our offers to the interests of young people. In order to enable young people to achieve a high degree of self-determination, we educate them to understand social and political relationships. This includes in particular that they understand how to be considerate of other people, but also political decision-making processes are discussed. It is important to us to convey values to young people. We attach particular importance to the fact that all people have the same rights and obligations. Our work takes always care to the self-perception of our NGO: We are multifaceted and creatively active, in order to educate young people, provide them with competences and promote our values. We deeply believe that every individual is valuable and has to have a chance to realize their own potential regardless of their ethnic, social, and cultural background. Therefore, we are interested in each person and threat him or her with respect. We want to discern the world in order to apply the acquired knowledge to the benefit of people and nature. We verify our actions and define our goals for the future in the knowledge of the successes and mistakes of our ancestors. We know that this society deprives thenatural and social livelihoods of many people and we fight for this reason active against existing injustices. We are confident that we can improve the world through our actions. We want to be a cultural, social and political home for young people.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

In the open area, young people can chill, cook, dance, listen to the music, play, play football, play billiards or table tennis. Simply enjoy FREE time. If they feel like playing music, playing an instrument, just want to try it out or write lyrics, they can use our rehearsal room. Our musically experienced staff will support them.If youngsters like to draw and want to let their creativity run free, they can let off steam in the Anna creative room and with a little practice they will soon embellish our graffiti wall! We also have experienced employees for this. We have also established a partnership with a freelance artist, himself a former user of the youth center. The sports facilities next to the youth center (soccer, basketball, volleyball) are used as well as the dance room. We cook together with the young people. Our kitchen is designed to cook healthy and sustainable with groups. It is important to us that young people can have a say in what happens to us. That is why they come to the AnnaRat and tell us their wishes. Together with them we can plan projects, conduct workshops or even create completely new opportunities.
