CHANCE TO CHANGE
VOLUNTEERING TOOLBOX
About the project
CHANCE TO CHANGE – VOLUNTEERING TOOLBOX
Chance to Change is an innovative initiative that uses non-formal education to prevent youth violence and promote social inclusion. The Toolbox offers practical tools for anyone working with children and youth, to foster peer education, active citizenship, and safer, more inclusive communities for young people.
Youth violence—especially in schools—is an increasing concern, often triggered by cultural, personal, or physical differences. Its impact is far-reaching, affecting students’ well-being, academic performance, and the overall learning environment. Chance to Change responds to this reality by empowering both young people and those who work with them to build respectful, inclusive spaces through education and engagement.
PROJECT GOALS
Chance to Change tackles three main challenges: it aims to prevent violence and intolerance among young people, particularly in school contexts; to encourage youth participation through meaningful volunteer work; and to strengthen the role of non-formal education, highlighting its importance in personal and social development.
Through interactive learning experiences and peer-led activities, the project equips young volunteers with the skills, confidence, and motivation to contribute actively to their communities and to become agents of positive change.

Project Results

The Volunteering Toolbox
The core achievement of the project was the development of a structured methodology for implementing volunteer-led initiatives, where young volunteers take the lead in promoting a culture of peace and nonviolence within school environments. To support this approach, we created a set of educational games that can be used flexibly—either as part of the methodology or independently—in classroom or playground settings. To further engage young people, we also designed a self-assessment mobile app aimed at those interested in volunteering. This tool helps them reflect on their personal strengths, motivations, and readiness to take action.
