MOBILE YOUTH WORK
ENGAGING YOUTH AND COMMUNITIES. PROMOTING THE RECOGNITION OF MOBILE YOUTH CENTRE INITIATIVES
About the project
MOBILE YOUTH WORK – ENGAGING YOUTH AND COMMUNITIES
Mobile Youth Work (MYW) is a forward-thinking approach that brings support, guidance, and opportunities directly to young people – wherever they are. This project explores MYW as a dynamic extension of open youth work, going beyond fixed-location centres to reach underserved and hard-to-access communities. At its core, the focus is on the development and promotion of Mobile Youth Centres (MYCs) – adaptable spaces where young people can connect, receive counselling, access resources, and express themselves freely.
By actively involving youth workers, practitioners, and policy stakeholders, the project also aims to increase the recognition of open youth work’s value and the resources needed to deliver it effectively.
PROJECT GOALS
The project’s main goal is to advocate for and expand the use of Mobile Youth Centres—flexible, mobile units that complement traditional youth centres by reaching young people in areas with limited or no youth services. These centres act as informal meeting spaces, offering leisure activities, support, and opportunities for youth to develop their ideas in a safe and inclusive environment.
Drawing on proven experience and earlier research, we are committed to developing practical tools and resources tailored for youth workers, practitioners, and policymakers to effectively implement Mobile Youth Work in their communities.
