MOBILE YOUTH WORK.

Engaging youth and communities. Promoting the recognition of Mobile Youth Centres Initiatives.

About the project

MOBILE YOUTH WORK – ENGAGING YOUTH AND COMMUNITIES

Mobile Youth Work – Engaging Youth and Communities is a European project that explores Mobile Youth Work as a practical and innovative way to bring youth services directly to young people.

At its core are Mobile Youth Centres: educational, flexible, and mobile tools that enable youth workers to reach young people where they are—in public spaces, rural areas, schools, and local communities.

Rather than replacing traditional youth centres, Mobile Youth Centres extend their reach, making youth work more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to real needs.

What we have done

Over two years, the project combined research, practice, and direct work with young people to better understand and strengthen Mobile Youth Work across Europe.

We have:

  • Analysed how Mobile Youth Centres operate in different contexts
  • Developed a database of Mobile Youth Centre models, activities
  • Gathered best practices from different countries and research
  • Organised a youth exchange to co-create the Dream Mobile Youth Centre
  • Developed a comprehensive manual covering structure, setup, services, activities, and ethics
  • Defined roles, competencies, and approaches for mobile youth workers
  • Produced policy recommendations for decision-makers
  • Organised international meetings and local events

Dream Mobile Youth Centre

To shape the vision of an ideal mobile youth centre, we worked directly with young people during the “Festival of Mobile Youth Centres” youth exchange. Here, 24 young participants co-created their “Dream Mobile Youth Centre,” highlighting key values such as accessibility, inclusion, safety, creativity, and participation.
